Some ComplyWise features are always on for your workspace; others are enabled per workspace (entitlements) and metered by credits. This reference explains the three credit pools, where to see your balance, and how limits behave.
Entitlements: what your workspace has switched on
The KYB Manager and Relationships are always on. The other modules are switched on per workspace by the platform team:
- Legal AI Co-pilot
- Risk Screener, with two parts: entities and individuals (the module itself) and wallets
- Document Manager, with two parts: documents and templates (the module itself) and e-sign
- Audits
A module that is switched off does not appear in your menu at all.
One exception: platform admins (the ComplyWise team) can still use the Legal AI Co-pilot inside a workspace whose Copilot is off, for the work they do on that workspace's behalf. It shows to them with a Private marker, those conversations never appear to workspace members, and any credits used come from ComplyWise's own quota, never the workspace's. If something you expect is missing, or you want a module turned on, contact support@complywise.io.
The three credit pools
| Pool | What consumes it |
|---|---|
| AI credits | Legal AI work: each Co-pilot response (multiplied by the model's cost factor), prompt improvements, AI document reviews, and DDQ answer drafting |
| Screening credits | Risk screening runs: wallet screens and entity or individual screens |
| E-sign envelope credits | Sending an envelope for signature: one credit per envelope, consumed at send |
Two behaviors worth knowing:
- Failures don't charge. If an AI call fails, you see "No credits used" and nothing is deducted.
- Envelope credits are not refunded. Voiding, declining, or expiry after send does not return the credit.
Where balances show
- AI credits: the credit chip in the Legal AI Co-pilot.
- Envelope credits: the credit chip on the e-sign dashboard, which also shows when a monthly pool resets.
- Screening credits: shown in the Risk Screener when your workspace is metered.
How limits work
Each pool is one of:
- Monthly: the allowance resets at the start of each period.
- Total: a one-time pool that runs down until it's topped up.
- Unmetered: no limit set; usage is unrestricted.
Warnings
When a metered pool crosses 80% used, and again at 100%, members with settings access get a notification (in-app and by email, subject to their notification preferences). Monthly pools warn again each new period; a total pool warns once per threshold. At 100% the feature refuses further runs with an honest message until the limit changes.
Changing limits
Credit limits and entitlements are set by the platform team, not from your workspace settings. To raise a limit, switch a pool between monthly and total, or enable a module, contact support@complywise.io.
