Not every document type applies to every business, and not every expiry warning is news to you. ComplyWise gives you two honest ways to handle that: marking a slot N/A, and snoozing an expiry warning. Both are recorded, both affect readiness truthfully, and both are reversible.
Before you start
- Both actions require the Contributor, Editor, or Workspace Admin role.
Mark a slot N/A
Use this when a document type genuinely doesn't apply to your business (for example, a licence class you don't hold).
- Open the entity's Business Docs tab and click the slot.
- In the drawer, choose Mark N/A.
- The slot's chip changes to N/A and it stops counting against your readiness score.
Marking N/A is better than leaving a slot Incomplete forever: your readiness score reflects reality, and anyone you share the KYB record with sees a deliberate answer instead of a gap.
To reverse it, open the same slot and clear the N/A mark; the slot returns to the state the checklist gives it, required or optional.
Remove a document you added
N/A is the answer for a slot the checklist put there. A slot you added by hand can be removed outright:
- Open the slot and choose Remove document. It appears only on hand-added slots, and only for roles that can delete documents (Editor and Workspace Admin).
- Confirm. The slot goes, together with every version of its file and its verification history. The audit trail keeps the entry recording the removal.
Removal is not reversible, so use it for a slot created in error. If Remove document is not offered, the slot came from your checklist template: mark it N/A instead, which is reversible and reads honestly to anyone you share the KYB record with.
Snooze an expiry warning
Use this when a document is expiring (or expired) and you already know: the renewal is filed, the counterparty has been told, and you don't need the warning shouting at you meanwhile.
- Open the slot that carries the expiry warning.
- Choose Snooze next to the expiry notice and set the date to quiet it until. The option appears only on documents that are expiring or expired, and requires the slot-override permission (Workspace Admins). Unsnooze appears while a snooze is active.
- The warning is suppressed for that period. The underlying dates don't change: the document is still expiring, and the KYB record still says so honestly; you've only silenced the reminder.
Snoozing also suppresses the pre-expiry alerts and digest entries for that document while it lasts. When the snooze ends, warnings resume. Uploading the renewal makes the whole question moot: the expiry clock resets from the new document.
You can end a snooze early from the same place you set it.
What these do to readiness
- N/A removes the slot from the readiness calculation entirely: it is neither complete nor missing.
- Snooze changes nothing in the calculation: an expired document still reads as expired. Snooze only affects notifications.
Neither action hides anything from reviewers or from people you share the KYB record with; both are visible for what they are.
