Someone has sent you a document to sign through ComplyWise. You don't need an account, a password, or any software: the private link you received is your access, so keep it to yourself and don't forward it.
Open and review
- Open your signing link in any modern browser, on desktop or mobile.
- Read the document. You can scroll every page, zoom, and take as long as you need; opening the link commits you to nothing.
- If the sender listed recipients in a set order, you may see a note that it isn't your turn yet. You'll be able to sign once the people before you have signed.
Consent first
Before you can sign, you must agree to sign electronically. Tick the consent box when you're ready: this is required, and your consent is recorded as part of the signing evidence, along with timestamps.
Fill your fields
- Click Start. The page walks you to your first field, and Next moves you through the rest, so nothing gets missed.
- Fill each field assigned to you: text boxes, dates, and checkboxes are completed in place on the page.
- Clicking a signature box opens the signature dialog. Adopt your signature one of three ways:
- Type your name in a signature style.
- Draw it with your mouse or finger.
- Upload an image of your signature (PNG or JPEG).
- When every required field is complete, click Sign & Complete.

Comment or request changes
If something in the document needs discussion, you don't have to sign or walk away:
- Comment starts a thread the sender (and other recipients) can see and reply to. You can pin a comment to a specific spot on a page.
- Request changes tells the sender what needs fixing. It's advisory: the document stays open, the sender is notified with your note, and they will usually send you a corrected version.
Decline
Decline ends the envelope for everyone: all signing links stop working and the sender is notified with the reason you give. Use it when you won't be signing this document in any form.
After everyone has signed
When the last person signs, the process completes. If the sender recorded your email address, you'll receive a completion message with a fresh link. Your same signing link now shows two downloads: the signed document and the signing certificate, a summary page of who signed, when, and the evidence recorded. Keep both for your records; the link keeps serving them.
If your link no longer works
Links can expire, or be replaced if the sender reissued yours. The page will tell you the link is no longer valid, and if the sender recorded your email address, it can send a replacement link there: no address is shown, and only that address is ever used. If no email was recorded, ask the sender directly for a new link. See My link says it's no longer valid for every case. For anything else, contact the person who sent you the document, or support@complywise.io.
