Two things bound every envelope: the credit it costs to send, and the date its links stop working. This reference covers both.
Credits
- One credit per envelope, consumed at send. The moment you click Send, one envelope credit is deducted. Nothing is charged for drafting.
- No refunds. A voided, declined, or expired envelope does not return its credit. Re-sending (including via clone) consumes a new one.
- The credits chip. The e-sign dashboard shows your remaining credits and, for monthly allowances, the date the pool resets.
- Running out. The send surface checks your balance before you commit; with no credits left, sending is blocked until the pool resets or your allowance is raised. Your workspace's allowance is set by your plan: contact your administrator or support@complywise.io to change it. Workspaces without a set limit see no credit ceiling.

Expiry
- Every envelope has an expiry date, chosen when you send: 7, 14, 30, 60, or 90 days. The default is 30 days.
- What expiry means. When the date passes with signatures still outstanding, the envelope moves to Expired: all remaining links die and nobody else can sign. An envelope where everyone has already signed does not expire; it completes instead.
- The dashboard shows it coming. The Expires column on the e-sign dashboard highlights envelopes due within 7 days.
Expiry reminders
A few days before an envelope expires with someone left to sign:
- You (the sender) get a notification and an email naming the envelope.
- Outstanding signers with an email address get a reminder pointing them back to their invitation, without exposing the link itself.
Each envelope is reminded about once, so inboxes aren't flooded.
Expired envelopes can be cloned
Expiry isn't a dead end. An expired envelope offers Clone, which drafts a fresh envelope with the same recipients and fields against the document's current version. Review it, send it, and new links go out (consuming a new credit). See Void, clone, and re-send.
